Dear Operation Thank You,

I appreciate the package you sent, and I immediately put the flip-flops to use.  (They wear out so quickly around here, and so do socks).  Everything in it was great, and the HAPO pen reminded me of home.  It’s also nice to write in a color besides black.  Right now, I’m back inside the wire for a few days, so I get to have showers and clean laundry and hot food, even if in a hot, muggy cafeteria.  The raub finally came yesterday, and gave us a break from the heat.  The mountains around here are so beautiful!!! and there’s hedge hogs, frogs, lizards, odd birds, scorpions, and much else.

p.s.  Thank you for the airplane picture

Thanks,
Steve Ayers

Dear Caring Friend,
In this time of war, few things are more vital than reaching out to America’s wounded troops as you did with your generous gift of $100.00 in memory of Shawn Jensen and Eric Ward.

For these troops, many of them young adults, your patriotic kindness means a hand up as they begin new lives after severe injuries and trauma.  As a partner in the Wounded Warrior Project mission to honor and empower wounded warriors, you help these men and women move back into the mainstream of the great American life they protected for you and me.

As soon as wounded warriors leave the war zone and arrive at a hospital, you’re  at their bedsides hand-in-hand with WWP.  Through a broad spectrum of WWP programs, you stay with the wounded throughout recovery.  Many people use the phrase, “Support the Troops,” but you put those words into action as combat-inured troops work to build new lives.

Imagine a warrior who sacrificed limbs or sight in Iraq or Afghanistan now skiing down the side of a mountain, starting college, helping a fellow warrior, or beginning a ne job!  Expressing the power of your recent gift to WWP, those images come to my mind as I offer my gratitude to you today.  You have my deepest appreciation.

Saluting your Generosity,

Adam Silva
Chief Development Officer,
Wounded Warrior Project

To WA Operation Thank You,

Hi, I just wanted to write a letter to thank you for the care packages you have sent me.  I received 2 right after we left Haiti. One was full of beanie babies.  We were not able to hand out to the Haitians, so I gave them to the Marines in my Platoon.  They have enjoyed them.  I would like to thank you for the food and shower products in the boxes, they have come in handy for when I run low on my supply.

I am about half done with my deployment and cannot wait to return home to my wife and kids.  Thanks heaven this is my last deployment.

I have one request to ask you.  If you are going to send me another care package, please instead sent it to one of my Marines, as he does not receive much, if any mail.  This would me happy.  His name is ___(left blank for privacy reasons).  You can use the same address as mine; just change the name.  Thank you again for all that you are doing to support our troops.

Thank you from the Family of SSG John James Cleaver for your gift in John’s name for the Wounded Soldiers of his division—the 82nd Airborne.

The paratroopers of the 1-508 wanted to do a memorial in John’s name.  With the problems of their position in Afghanistan and the factors of transfers, they were unable to establish the fund.  They let me know mid-February.  I knew a similar charity must exist.  With the help of Ft. Leonard Wood and Ft. Bragg, I found it.

It is the 82nd Airborne Division Wounded Warrior Committee at Ft. Bragg, NC.  Volunteer Army Spouses and Surviving Spouses give 100% of donations for items for our Wounded Heroes at Walter Reed, Brooke and Womack Army Medical Centers.  The WWC welcomes and visits the Heroes in each hospital.

$785 was contributed for the SSG John Cleaver Memorial Fund.  These are John’s troops—the soldiers he led, the soldiers who led him, trained with him, worked with him, fought by his side, and parachuted with him—his “band of Brothers”.

Thank you for your support through John’s life and generosity upon his death.  WE are so touched and proud.  When we look back upon John’s life and our life we see many sets of footprints in the sand because it was then “you” helped God carry us.  Your contributions will also help carry other soldiers through their recuperation period, so you have touched many lives with your donations.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Ronald, Teresa, Ron, Rhonda, Collin, and Aidan

Thank you so much for your care package.  It is a good feeling to know that someone you have never met cares enough to send you something to brighten your day.  The items in the package were shared with my fellow soldiers.  They told me to thank you as well.

It is pretty windy and dusty over here currently but so far the rain has stayed away; which is good I am told because this area will become extremely muddy and nasty when it rains. Although I might trade the dust for the mud right now because it gets into everything and it is hard to keep things clean.  Again, thank you for your support.

Very respectfully,

Thank you so much for your recent care package you sent to one of our Marines.  He redeployed back home and so the package came to the Chapel where we put out the candy, snacks, and other treats so that they are available to our Marines, Airmen, Sailors, and Soldiers as they stop in to worship, seek advice, or just to get a hot cup of Joe.  The thoughtfulness of you and other Americans does not go unnoticed even if you will never meet the lives that you and your organization have touched.  May God continue to bless you as you have blessed us,

Take care and God Bless,

I just wanted to take the time and say Thank You for the care packages that you had sent to Marines stationed in Iraq. My Marines and I have just taken over for another company here in Iraq and I did not know if they had sent you a thank you back.  Even though this war has been going on for six years it is still good to know that people like yourselves still care enough to take time out of your lives and send items to the troops. I know the Marines under my command greatly appreciate it. Dear Sir/Ma'am:

I wanted to thank you for the nice care package.  I enjoyed the various snacks as well as the personal care items.

We stay very busy here so sometimes it takes me awhile to respond.

I work for USARCENT, which is known by most as third Army and was made famous in the movie “Patton”.

The weather here is generally much hotter than the U.S.  with highs right now around 125 degrees during the day.  I work in an air conditioned building and generally do not get out much during the day so the hot weather doesn’t bother me much.

Thanks again for the care package.  It’s nice to know that folks back home are thinking of us.

Letter:
My name is 2LT Matthew Yamamoto and I’m currently stationed in Southern Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  Recently I received your care package and cannot begin to express my level of appreciation for you thoughtfulness and concern.  I apologize for the baby blue stationery, but the PX here on COB Adder is somewhat lacking in choices.  This being my first deployment, holiday away from home, and first time overseas, it’s extremely nice to receive such nice gestures from all of you back home.

I have enclosed a custom 81st BDE patch that I found outside of the PX at Seitz (VBC/BIAP/ W. Baghdad).  Please accept it as a token of my immerse appreciation.  I apologize for the penmanship, but the missions we run are during the night and pre-dawn hours so our sleep cycles and periods of free time are often times not in conjunction with one another.  I hope this letter and your postcard find you well.

Sincerely, Matt Yamamoto

Thank you for the box.  It was nice to see from my home town.  Your last name (Nunamaker) is my wife mom’s maiden name.  So if this is part of her family thank you so much!
Chris Coburn

What an awesome early “Christmas” present!!!  Our team thanks you all.  God Bless you.
Major W. Patience, 11/28/2008

Ladies, I wanted to email and thank you for the care package.  It arrived last week in a huge mail delivery of shipping containers that had been held up during one of the muslim holidays.  I specifically wanted to email because a letter would arrive after your Christmas break had started. I am assuming that my sister Rachael was the one who had given you my address.  It was surprising to get a package from my high school after 20 years, and my elementary school after 30 years. My soldiers wanted me to thank you especially for the beef jerky. That is always popular here. Please also pass on my thanks to Mrs. Holst, as I was unable to find aemail address for her. If your students are interested, I would be happy to answer any questions they have.  If so I would prefer to get them from your email addresses. Thank you again
CPT Aaron Garner

Thanks so much for the Christmas care package which arrived today!  It made my day!  The contents are well considered.  I’ve already erected the tree and shared the contents!  THANKS!
LTC Rich Haller, USAF,  11/27/2008

Thank you so much!  The care package was very thoughtful.  We received the packages on Thanksgiving Day.  My favorite parts are the cards and notes from the school children.  This helps make the holidays away from home much easier to accept.  Thank you again for your generosity and kindness.

THANK YOU SOOOOOOO MUCH!!!! That was a really nice thing what you did with the picture!!!!!!!  I've already told everyone to go look at it  :) and thank you all for the packages...it is a very big pick me up to get something in the mail ..it's like christmas all over again  :)  it's not only hard on us out here serving...but just as hard being there.  It takes a toll on people like you all ..and Aunt Carla who care so much.  It warms my heart to see the pictures on the website of everyone packing care packages.  It's a very good thing you all do and to be able to claim that is wonderful instant gratification. I CANT WAIT to get the care package!!! Did I leave my address or did aunt Carla give it to you?
HM2 Lindsay Grimes - Kuwait

Thank you very much for my package.  It came at a great time!  My unit (2 Marine Div Light Armored Recon) is two days away from going on a two month operation.  Please know your packages are “awesome”.
Thanks, Robin

Thank you for your support.  We appreciate your concern and active involvement with the Marines in Iraq.
LCPL Hilton

We received your wonderful package today.  Oh, what joy it brings us to know that there are people back home that support the troops and actually take the time to show it.  Yours truly,
SPC Jay Bales

I wanted to write and say Thank You for the care package I received from you.  It is always nice to receive support from the “Homefront”.  All the items will be used while I am here in Afghanistan.  I am a Hospital Corpsman with the Marines.  I am in the Navy, but because the Marines do not have a Medical Department, the Navy provides them with Doctors, Dentists, Nurses and enlisted Medics, but they call us Corpsman instead.  We also go by the nickname “Doc”.  Again, thank you for the package and keep supporting us over here.  Prayers for us always keep us going.
Hospital Corpsman Second Class Pete Adam

Thank you for your support and your packages during our deployment.  My name is SPC Jason Moore.  I attend the Bastogne Chapel where Chaplain Kulhlman works.  I can not say how much the support of you and everyone like you means to us.  P.S. I have seen your picture in the Chapel. God Bless !
Jason Moore

Wow!  I almost don’t know where to start!  The past 4… almost 5 months now, have gone by with such speed that we hardly know what has happened.  So much to share and thank you cards are so small!!!  I struggled a bit with typing a letter to each of you and the “form feel” of it, but in the end decided to make this “newsy” letter to give you a greater ideal of what the Bastogne Briggade is up to rather than just a short “thanks and here is a picture”.  For example, in a note you would never know that 2 weeks ago the day started with rain, followed by sleet, then show, then sunshine!  Yesterday it was 74 degrees, and we had freezing rain last night followed by sunshine this morning and an orange sandstorm this afternoon!!!  Well, we no sooner settled into our places in Sept/Oct when Christmas came on like a storm!  In the Chapel and family business, it was a very busy time for us.  It was fantastic to receive the lights, trees, decorations, thank you cards from you… and blank cards to send home, the goodies and treats, cheese, bubblegum.  You name it, you all sent it!  Thanks so much for every part each of you played.  There was not a day that went by here in the brigade area where we did not send out a convoy to a remote site without several boxes from You all on board!  Classes churches, scouts and all kinds of groups… the boxes you sent have gone to some rather remarkable places!!!  Many of you sent Christmas decorations in the Nov/Dec timeframe, which was a hugh hit… especially in the small patrol bases… as last year the mice decided to make their homes in everyone’s Christmas stuff, so most was ruined and had to go out…. Of course we found this out after arriving with little time to get new stuff.  You all came through in a huge way and our Soldiers are grateful for it!  New Years and now Valentines have come and gone… the coffee, granolas, trail mix, snacks, and letters help us all to stay connected to home!  And your Prayers!!! Rarely does a day pass when I don’t hear a story from one of our areas about “Something God did”.  Keep praying!  It works!  Our sincere thanks to you and your faithfulness from the Bastogne Team and those who partner with us in our area!  We look forward to hearing from you in the near future!
Chaplain Kuhlman, Bastogne Shepherd

Thank you for your most recent donations of warm clothing and winter items for the Afghan people.  On behalf of our soldiers at distant locations, thank you for the care packages and cards that were sent during the holiday season.  We are in the middle of the Afghan winter and distribution of warm clothing, food and blankets are life saving events, especially for displaced families living in tents in the Kabul area.  Later this month, with the assistance of the Hatan Organization for Afghanistan, we will distribute charcoal for heating and cooking.  Hatan is a fledgling non-govermental organization run by Afghans for Afghans.  The picture enclosed is from a blanket distribution just outside Kabul.  Thank you again for supporting our efforts to help the people of Afghanistan.
Clark Murff, COL, AR

On behalf of the NMCB18 Party Committee, we gratefully acknowledge your recent donation of the $160.00.  Because of your generosity, we were able to once again bring together both the Navy and communities of The Inland Northwest, Coeur D’Alene, Idaho, along with supporters in the Tri-Cities.  Our Welcome Home Party for our Sea Bee’s and their families was a celebration of the recognition the sacrifices sailors and families have made every day for the defense our country.  Thank you for your generous support in helping our committee provide a memorable and wonderful event.  Sincerely,
Rebecca A. Ford

Thank you all so much and I mean that from the bottom of my heart.  You guys are some very special people.  Those packages you send reach to much more people then you think.  Kids, Locals and us - the soldiers.  Every time I come home you guys do something special for me and I’m grateful for that.  It means something to know that Americans still care about their soldiers.
Paul Lockhart, 173rd

I hope and pray this letter finds you well.  I want to take this opportunity to thank you for all the support and prayers for our Task Force.  We have had many situations here in Iraq where we can say that The Hand of God has been with us in miraculous ways.  In our missions, in our tough times, in our hearts and in each other, the Lord God has been our Strength and Refuge.  Your support, letters and boxes have been a huge part of the good morale here.  Thank you for being such a wonderful team back home holding down the home front during our deployment.  We are in this together, and as the Task Force Chaplain, I ask you to stay strong with our Nation’s motto “In God We trust,” and please continue to lift up our soldiers and leadership in prayers while we continue to do our daily duties here.  You all, our soldiers and families, are in my prayers each day.  God Bless America, Chaplain Kinnune

As I have been looking at the hundreds of addresses from around the country that represent those of you who have support our troops and Chaplain Kinnune, I am overwhelmed.  You have uplifted and encouraged them with prayers, cards, letters, and great care packages filled with fun surprises and useful items.  The children’s letters with their sincere writings along with hand made pictures are precious.  Thank you for your generosity and deep commitment to helping our troops maintain good morale.  You are truly a blessing to them.  Dianne Lemley, Chaplain FRG Rep
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your generous donation to the wounded soldiers from Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.  It is extremely gratifying to see the out-pouring of affection for these men and women who serve our country so bravely.  It is Americans like you, who keep in their hearts, the well-being and recuperation of those who have sacrificed so much.  It helps make this country what it is and makes us all proud to be Americans.  Again, thank you for your generosity.  Sincerely, Stephen C. Maguire, Director, Soldier Family Assistance Center. Walter Reed Army Medical Center

Letter sent to Mrs. Holst, Jefferson Grade School:

First of all, I hope you and your class are doing well.  Sorry for taking so long to write back.  We are so busy out here with missions that when we get some free time, everyone uses it to rest and listen to music, I’m sure you understand.  I hope your students didn’t drive you completely crazy during Halloween.  I was one of those kids that had to have his candy taken away because I drove my teachers completely nuts.  Dressing up was the best part for me.  I guess you can say we all dressed up as soldiers over here.  Ha! Ha!  I haven’t asked Zack about your daughter, if he remembers who she is.  He actually is on his way back to Washington right now on his mid-tour leave for 18 days.  Maybe he will stop by and visit.  There has been a lot of stuff going on out here.  My unit, the 133rd Airborne, is in the Kunar Province of Afghanistan.  It’s pretty hectic out here.  We’ve come in contact with Taliban and Al-Qaida forces many times.  But the attacks are slowing down because the winter is coming.  Some of the mountains around our base are snow capped and like I told Katia in her letter, it reminds me of snowboarding.  That is one thing I cannot wait to do when we leave this country.  Well to keep your informed, Barney (their dog) has grown these past months.  A couple of nights ago we walked up a mountain to an outpost and e walked with us the whole way.  He walked at the front of our formation and would run up about 50 meters to scout out where we were heading.  We were a little concerned he would bark and give away our position but he didn’t make a sound the whole time.  I think he knows when we leave the base we have to be quiet and cautious.  Well I will write back again and on behalf of my platoon I’d like to thank you and the people that send us letters and packages through Operation Thank You.  It reminds the soldiers out here that there are people back home that do care for us.  I am also making a CD and putting some pictures on them for your class.  Thanks again,
Sincerely, Spc Robert Figueroa

Seasons Greetings from Camp Phoenix.  The first snows are starting to cover the mountain tops around Kabul and it is truly a wonderful site.  It is setting the stage for a “White Christmas”.  Thanks to your donations of warm clothing and shoes, many Afghans will stay warm this winter.  Each day we’re receiving more boxes and barrels of humanitarian assistance.  Your generosity continues to amaze us.  On behalf of the Commander of Combined Joint Task Force Phoenix VI, we are grateful for your kind considerations, offerings, thoughts and prayers.  We wish you and your family a happy holiday season.

I am honored that I get the opportunity to address all of you in this letter since COL Murff is currently enjoying leave in Mexico.  Thank you for your continued support of our humanitarian assistance efforts throughout Afghanistan.  The beginning of the winter months has now arrived and we have been actively shipping winter clothes and shoes and many other items to every corner of this country.  The winters here as your know from past letters are very cold, much colder than we are use to in South Carolina.  Cold weather clothes and shoes can be the difference between life and death over here for the local populace.  We have been targeting the children of Afghanistan with our Humanitarian Assistance drops because the winter can be especially brutal for them.  The people of Afghanistan are very grateful to people like you, who are allowing them the opportunity to have a warmer more comfortable winter, through the kindness and generosity of your gifts.  You all also allow us to successfully complete one of our most important missions which is to help the people of Afghanistan.  Thanks again for all you do and rest assured that we will continue to get the goods you send to the people that need it most.
Sincerely, W. Brunson DePass, III, 1LT. FA

Thank you so much.  It's really hard being away from home especially during the holidays.  I greatly appreciate all that your doing.  It really means a lot.  Thanks for your support, boxes and your prayers.  God Bless You.  Merry Christmas.
PFC McSherry

I just wanted to take a few minutes and let you know of my deep appreciation for your care of  the military service members who are over here.  Even though your package was sent to me, it was seen and shared by all who I work with.  I think it makes a big difference knowing that we have the thoughts and support of the American populous behind us.  Although we are separated from our families and loved ones back home, people like you really help to get us through until we can be with them again.  Thank you again for the package and your thoughts.
Sincerely, USAF Master Sergeant Kevin Thiessen

We thank you for the wonderful package.  We are doing good things here.  Beating the enemy and helping the people of this country.  Thank you so much for the support.  We know the American people are thinking of us over the holidays.  I hope you too will enjoy Christmas.  I will come home in January.  Although I will be happy to come home, the mission will continue.  It is a good and righteous mission.  We have reduced the infant mortality rate by 25%.  The news barely mentions that.  Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Lt Col USMC  David Devore

Thank you so much for sending the great snacks and treats.  Our soldiers love them.  We are blessed because of your generosity.  All of those wonderful goodies eventually ended up at FOB Brassfield-Mora in Sanaara, Iraq.  I distributed them only today.  Many blessings to you and to all of Operation Thank You.  Merry Christmas.

I would like to thank you for the packages you have sent me.  I have set my Christmas Tree and hung by stocking, it was very nice to have received them and made my day.  I would like to send a very special thanks to a little girl names Tabitha, from Jefferson Elementary School!  She sent a little note saying thank you for fighting for freedom, you see I have a daughter aged 7.  I have been here for 3 tours so far and I will keep coming back until all our children are safe from this threat.  So to Tabitha, you are very welcome and have a very Merry Christmas.

Thank you for picking up my holidays with your package.  It came with perfect timing cuz the chow they serve here isn’t the best, at least when I’m on post.  I especially liked the classical CD and the After Dark CD.  Midnight at this Oasis is one of my most favorite songs, but I could never find it.  As of right now, I’m half way into my deployment, and will be gaining rank in a few days so by the time you read this I’ll be a Corporal.  Thank you again for your support and I’ll end this with a joke… What did the fish say when he hit a wall?... 11/27/07 - This letter was sent to Principal Rumsey at Jefferson Elementary in Richland. Several Teachers have assisted us in packing for the troops and their students have written letters.

Principal Rumsey,

I am writing to say thank you to your school and it's help and participation in the Operation THANK YOU program.  We received a large number of packages full of various items and found letters from some of your students included as well.  Words cannot express how something like this boosts our morale and reminds us of what we have to look forward to back home.
We will be sending thank you letters via regular mail but I thought you would appreciate knowing the boxes are making it here.  Please pass this along to all, especially those that sent the letters!

v/r,

Thank you so much for thinking of us during our tour in Iraq.  Every package you sent with books, snacks, cookies and candies, I shared with the soldiers in my company.  We all enjoyed and really appreciate your thoughts and support.  Unfortunately, our free time is very limited and I apologize for the delay in response to your kind gesture.  My company is participating in the Baghdad Security Plan and the hours and effort consume most of our time.  We have successfully conducted many operations to eliminate terrorist cells and dramatically reduced the sectarian violence in East Baghdad.  Even though many soldiers in my company and in the Task Force have paid the ultimate sacrifice, our soldiers are determined to succeed in making Iraq a safe and democratic country.  We are now in the process of moving back to Germany, but we will never forget all your support during this trying time.  Take care,
CPT William Wade

I’m serving with the US Air Force in Iraq and writing to thank you for the “care package” I received, it is much appreciated.  Everyone assigned to my team near Baghdad has received similar packages from various groups (including yours) and individuals back in the states.  We service members share much of these care packages with each other and donate some to good causes here.  We also realize how many Americans give a lot of themselves devoting so much of their time, energy, and resources to show support for us over here, I salute you all.  It’s a great feeling to know good people like you back home are thinking of us while serving in this troubled and dangerous part of the world.  Again, thank you very much for the tremendous support you give to the troops over here fighting the Global War on Terrorism,  May God Bless You,

Thank you so much for the package you sent.  I found everything very useful.  I am glad to hear from awesome people out there who support us, it makes it worthwhile to wake up in the morning and know that we have a lot of support while we are over here.  We have been here since March, things are moving by kind of fast because we are getting ready to head back home in September.  Thank you again, thank you so much for supporting us.

There is nothing more motivating to a solider than to receive a bit of love and tenderness from back home.  A letter, some snacks, some fresh socks, and toiletries are all little things that make such a big difference for soldiers here in Baghdad.  Your thoughtfulness and compassion helped make life here easier for me and my soldiers and brought smiles to all our faces.  For this, we are all immensely thankful.

I just received your package today and I want to say thank you.  I shared the items with my section and they wanted me to let you know how much they appreciate it.  They came just in time.  We are in the middle of summer, so we are dealing with the extreme heat, but we are doing just fine.  My unit has been very blessed, we have had no casualities from the enemy.  We are the first field artillery firing battery to fire the new M777 howitzers, so we are making history.  The people here are friendly and helpful for the most part.  We got extended and are due back in California at the end of November.  I can’t wait to get back to my wife and family.  Being away from everything I have ever known and the luxuries we as Americans have, opened up my eyes to a whole new world.  The everyday things we take for granted become very clear.  All in all, I am doing fine.  Thank you again and take care.
Sincerely, Brandon Swant

I just wanted to write you a letter thanking you for the package that I received.  It means a lot to me and my Marines over here knowing that we have the support of people like you.  Everything is going good for the most part out here.  It’s very hot, but life goes on, about 5 more months and we will be back in the states.  Thank you again for all of your support.

Today 5/30/07 I received your package.  The emotional lift I received was incalculable, to say the least.  As you may remember I’m a civilian deployed with the US Army Corp of Engineers at Essayon Compound, Baghdad, Iraq.  Thank you to all the volunteers for doing this noble cause, in order to lift the spirit, emotionally and physically to our men and women of the Armed Forces.  As a logistician, one of my duties is to move equipment across Iraq in support of the Project Engineers that inspect construction sites throughout.  We coordinate all the moves from the operation center; track the movement from beginning to end.  The engineers, mostly civilians, have to be escorted and accompanied by the soldiers and/or Marines.  The protection that the engineers receive by our men and women are with the utmost pride and security that one human being can provide to another.  Please continue your noble cause and spread the word about our men and women, they are doing a superb job and proud to do what they are doing.  Again thanks and GOD Bless you, your family and all the volunteer staff.  Building a Future for Generations to come!

Norma,

Of all the happiness and honor that your organization brings to our military service members and families, I am certain at times you may feel slighted and possibly not truly appreciated.  It is equally evident to me that the true purpose of your organization, along with the values, synergy of your members’ commitment, and love for our Nation - firms your resolve to continue. Isn't it great to belong to something bigger than yourself?

Early this year my sister Lisa Hempel along with several of the members of “Operation Thank You” gave me a pleasant surprise as you honored my 30 years of service to this great Nation.  Months have elapsed but do not think I have forgotten.   I have kept your card in my wallet knowing that one day I would have an opportunity to articulate my appreciation.

We have an entire Nation that is appreciative for the military services' combined efforts.  While our impact at times seems trivial and unnoticed - the synergy of individual action is insurmountable and demands the attention of the world.  But every once in awhile an organization like Operation Thank You comes into a our lives and shines a light our way –if only for a few moments it is a very reflective time and means so much from people you do not know – funny isn’t it – I could not have imagined.  Then realization hits….this is why I gave the best years of my life in service.  While I always thought I served exclusively for America and our way of life – now I know I was wrong.  Yes, I did it for America but to a much larger extent it was for Americans – like you and you entire organization.

You have touched my life and I personally thank you, and for all the lives you have touch and will touch, I professionally thank you.  You are making a difference and your service is divine.

Thank you,

Wayne L. Garcia

Hi!,

I wanted to thank you and the rest of the folks from operation thank you for the reception you provided for me upon my return from Iraq last month. I was actually a little sad when I deployed from Schofield Barracks (Hawaii) because I had no close family or friends there to see me off. Furthermore, when I return to Hawaii in the beginning of July I will return from Iraq without my family present.  So, having my family and a special reception when I went on leave back to Washington was especially significant for me. Thanks for all you do!

Norma and Operation Thank You,

I just wanted to make sure and thank you for two boxes that we just received in the mail.
I always love receiving boxes from you because you know exactly what to send.  In fact, I am enjoying a cup of the fine Starbucks coffee you sent right now as I type this email to you.

Blessings from Iraq, Chaplain Trotter
Please pray for our troops daily.

I just wanted to let you know I graduated Basic Combat Training (BCT) and I am Advanced Individual Training (AIT).  I'll be back in WA in approximately 10 weeks.  I can't wait to go home.  I've already been in MO for about 12-13 weeks.  BCT went by so fast, I hope AIT goes by as quickly.  I'll close for now.  Thank you for your notes of encouragement.

Thank you so much for the packages you continue to send me.  It helps ease the burden I carry a little it to know there are good people such as yourself that act in the benefit of others.  Many people say a lot but never try to help much themselves.

I received a package from you about two weeks ago (maybe the 10th).  In said package were lots of goodies including some microwave popcorn that looked to be from the Boy Scouts.  Maybe to raise money or something, I don't know.  Anyways, taped to one of the packages of popcorn was a letter from a little boy named Kenneth Corliss from Prosser, WA.  I'm guessing that is somewhere near your town of Richland.  His letter reached me at a very critical time.  I had lost three of my brothers the day before in combat.  I was with tem to their last breaths and was struggling with their loss.  Kenneth's short letter helped get me through the first couple of days and his words were like scripture.  I have no way to let  him know how much I appreciate what he did and am asking you to please find a way to send him this letter.  For all I know he could be your nephew or something.  Thank you so much for all you do.

Best Wishes, SPC James Schwartz

The care packages sent by your organization are absolutely wonderful!  I can't even begin to tell you how much they brighten one's spirit when we are away from home.  To know that we are thought about and supported helps make it a lot easier to support the mission we are here to serve.  It really is a great morale booster that made me smile.

Thank You!!  Lt Amy Stone

Thank you for the care packages.  They were very thoughtful.  It pleases me to know that there are still people like you who are willing to go the extra mile to make someone's day.  I enjoyed the Christmas Stockings and hung them in my tent.  And all the snacks were good as well.  Being away for the holidays is not easy, but thank you for making it a little more tolerable.  Once again I would like to say thank you and I hope that you and your family have a wonderful Christmas and a blessed and safe New Year.
